Maybe you noticed I like to often talk about one topic: lipstick. When I talk about it, I’m not simply talking about a make-up product but I’m talking of a certain style, a certain way of seducing, a certain kind of femininity. Winter brings wisdom. Last month I’ve been thinking about a particular trend: matte. It is the perfect weapon for the cold season and, moreover, considering all the new make-up collections and the beauty looks we had the chance to admire during the Fashion Weeks, it is also a huge trend for this season. Brigitte Bardot was crazy about it and used to choose a matte coral lipstick. Sadly, I don’t own her beautiful mouth, thus I usually match it with a lip pencil, which is a tip I give to anybody who doesn’t have plumpy lips as Brigitte. Moreover you’ll get a more intense and long-lasting effect. Now, we need to make a premise: do you know anything about lip scrub? If you don’t, it’s time to make up for it. Lipstick is a weapon of seduction, but lips need to be at their best, otherwise the effect is ruined, no matter which tint or which lipstick you choose.

Moreover, keep in mind that matte lipsticks are not very easy to use and they require a primer or at least perfectly hydrated lips. Until now, I’ve been using a lot Bubblegum by Lush, which in Italy is rightly called “Labbracadabra” (“labbra” means lips). You just have to rub it on your lips (even daily): turn this into a duty before wearing your lipstick and you’ll see. The scrub eliminates all the dead cells and in this way your lips will become not only smoother but even plumper as the application (which according to me should be through round movements) restart the blood circulation. If you love news, you should check out Lip Scrubtious by Mac. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m curios about its formula, consisting of sugar and emollients like Baobab seeds oil and grape oil.

Now, let’s go back to matte lipsticks. Personally, I choose them both because they’re trendy and because they are very practical as they don’t leave any spots or get smeared on your chin. And, unlike shimmery lipsticks, they have a mat finish, an opaque effect. No sparkles or lights. An ideal effect when you’re looking for something that’ll last long but even simply for an elegant and refined night look. Go for a creamy matte lipstick for great hydration, or choose a liquid lipstick for an easy application and mostly to stand out thanks to bright and sensual colours.

An evergreen is this cinnamon peach one by Mac, perfect for winter and for an everyday look. For an even more opaque effect, you could try one of these wonders by Kiko: until spring comes, I mostly use , depending on what I’m wearing, either the beige or the chocolate one, but even the cherry one for night looks. Being blonde, I like to experiment with different shades of pink and nude (like with this great nudestick by Sephora). Instead, if your hair is black, obviously go for fire red or purple red. Absolutely orange and beige for redheads. Brunettes are the luckiest: make-up artists say that you can pull off any hue. And now, you know everything you need for this matte winter.
