How’s your selfie game? If all you do is delete the pictures you take, this post is right for you. As a matter of fact, today I want to talk to you about a facial technique that the photographer Peter Hurley invented to guarantee that your pictures will look perfect. It’s called squinching, and it’s very popular among models and celebs in Hollywood. The absolute queen is the beautiful Karlie Kloss.

The technique is aimed at giving you a natural expression (enough with wide open eyes!) that will also look very charming. Maybe you’ll be amazed to know that the real secret of Squinching is.. a tiny bit of strabismus! After all, even Venus had crossed eyes, didn’t she?

Basic rules: draw your pupils near (not too much!), slightly lower your eyelid, but don’t close your eyes. Your smile needs to be restrained, as if you were just acting nice, and has to get your cheekbones enhanced. Of cpurse the whole procedure only makes sense with the right make-up.

The rules are: well-defined and thick eyebrows, a result you can only get thanks to the right tool. Lately I’ve been using this precision pencil by Mac. Also use a blending and creamy high-shadow (the new Vamp by Pupa is perfect), choosing dark shades, like blue, black or earth brown.  Another fundamental rule is contouring. Your face has to be extremely defined, creating a light-and-shadows effect.

My favourite contouring kit is Step-by-step by Sephora: you’ll get the three necessary hues for a perfect result. And finally, lipstick. Most make-up artists suggest nude (which, by the way, is super fashion right now). I tried many, and the one I never get tired of is Creme d’Nude by Mac, in a great skin colour. Now, go in front of the mirror and start practising, maybe after watching this very cute tutorial.
