Too light, too dark. Hard to apply. Too thick. Too dry. Too creamy, too shiny, too dusty. Too covering. You probably guessed what I’m referring to: the eternal dilemma of choosing the right foundation. Finding the perfect one I svery difficult and, according to some, even impossible. I know of girls that don’t use it as they believe that any foundation gives their skin a fake effect. Actually, during the last years the world of beauty has enormously evolved. And even though maybe the perfect foundation doesn’t exist yet, there are several products that can give your skin a natural look and even out your natural hue without a mask effect.

Let’s start with BB creams. Usually, these products don’t require a very complex technology as regards pigmentation and therefore are normally not too expensive. Among my favourite ones, I’d like to mention the Daily Protection BB Cream by Kiko, that other than levelling your skin tone offer a SPF30 sunscreen, that can always turn out to be very useful, even in winter. For a bit higher price (which also means higher quality) there’s the amazing Big Easy by Benefit Cosmetics: this is much more than a BB cream because, other than evening out your hue it can cure your skin balancing oily and dry zones and offering a SPF35 sunscreen. All of that next to a natural and very uniform finish. Cushion: once it could only be found in Asia, now it is among the most acquired foundations even in the Western world. Easy like a compact foundation, hydrating like a liquid one and with the additional asset of being very practical, which in the everyday world of a woman means that it can fit in our bag and doesn’t force us to bring along brushes, blenders and mirrors. Check out for example the Wonderful Cushion by Sephora, with a comfortable applicator included in the package. Moreover, if you think that cushion is the most genial creation in the world of make-up of the last years, don’t miss the Glam Beige Cushion Healthy Glow Foundation by L’Oréal, very quoted for its great value for money. Apparently, though, the king of cushions is Miracle CC Cushion by Lancôme. I haven’t tried it yet, but they say that it is enough to lightly pass it over your skin in order to create a very thin and even layer that’s basically invisible to the naked eye.

On the other hand the liquid Water Blend by Make Up For Ever is very used even on the body (as often seen on catwalks). If you want to be absolutely sure, it is needed to spend a bit more. Here I’d like to suggest, among many others, the Fluide Poudré T.Le Clerc, with a matte effect, perfect for mixed or oily skins. Not very natural, but ideal for an elegant night, paired with an important make-up. Matte again, but according to me more natural, one of the most revolutionary products of our era:the famous Diorskin Forever Perfect Mousse. With a very light texture, long-lasting effect and with a silky effect that kind of reminds of Photoshop. Another popular one is the Loose Mineral Foundation Brush Spf 20 by Colorescience, sold with its own brush. Medium coverage and a pure mineral dust formula for an enlightening and shiny effect. We’re talking about one of the most expensive foundations ever. But remember, it is widely known that a high price doesn’t always mean quality. You need to be patient, try a lot and finally choose the one that mostly fits our skin and our tastes.
